Re: (Rant alert) – Finance my tea adventures!
Yes, this seems like a frivolous request. As others are saying, I guess people want to live vicariously through these influencers. It would be nice to be able to finance a trip to Taiwan this way, though I'm not great at writing content or taking videos/photos and I'd hardly call myself a tea expert...

Re: What Oolong Are You Drinking
Trying the 'same' tea 12 months apart - PingLin baozhong made from the HuangZhi cultivar, one from mid-April 2024, the other from late April 2023. Am I the only one who actually prefers some baozhong to be just a little bit 'aged'? They're both very nice, but the 2024 feels a bit too 'savoury' and ...

Re: Hojo Tea
Thanks for the correction. What dancong teas have you tried from Hojo? And which ones are your personal favorites? I actually haven't tried any teas from Hojo. I've been on the cusp of ordering twice, but was turned off both times by the high shipping fees (I think it was about US$50). He's probabl...

Re: Hojo Tea
Very limited selection on the Canadian website. Prices are also noticeably higher compared to the Malaysian website where I usually order my teas from since I live across the border in Singapore. This is the best dancong vendor outside of China that one can find. I highly recommend trying their dan...

Re: Camellia Sinensis
I've never had their puerh or Chinese green tea, but their hongcha and oolongs are generally decent. I've really enjoyed their Mi Xiang Hong Cha and Feng Huang Hong Cha, and their roasted Dong Ding and Gui Fei are nice depending on the harvest. I also remember getting some nice gyokuro there a few y...

Re: 2024 Chinese green tea thread
I purchased several of the early teas including two kinds of longjings, and they’re tasting so-so to me no matter how I brew them. I think it’s a change in me rather than the tea but the test will be when I turn to anji bai cha as that and TPHK are my perennial favorites. I’m craving teas with more...

Any news about 2024 gaoshan? Some of it is already being sold. How is the quality compared to other harvests?

Re: What's your tea of choice when you're sad?
If I want something comforting, I'll go for a Gui Fei or red oolong. If I'm just having a bad day and need to power through, I'll drink anything I don't need to pay much attention to, usually a tea I want to get rid of.

Re: Daxue Jiadao 大学夹道
I just got a nice package from Daxue Jiadao today. Along with some tea, including more of the jammy 2021 Zijuan Hong that I wrote about a while ago and a 2015 smoked lapsang, I also got some teaware, including a 150 ml 1990s Dehua pot and a 100 ml Buchangqi cup. I wanted to mention how carefully the...

Re: What Oolong Are You Drinking
I'm working my way through a spring 2023 Longfengxia from Ethan (6 g, 120 ml, 195F, 25, 20, 25, 30, 30, 45, etc.). This tea is very soft, with flavours that are hard to pin down. I get some nice orchid florality, cream, apricot, and beautiful, slightly overripe peach. It lasts for seven or so steeps...

https://i.imgur.com/9h91Os0.jpeg Free sample of Masu Smoked Black Tea from old ways tea. Smokiness is more pronounced with this one but mellowed out after the first two steeps. Good tea overall. I've been thinking about trying the lapsangs and jin jun mei from Old Ways Tea. If you bought any more o...

Re: 2024 Chinese green tea thread
Because I'm totally impatient, I'm drinking a pre-Qingming Meng Ding Huang Ya from Treasure Green today (3 g, 120 ml, 176F, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 80, etc.). I think this is my first yellow tea from Meng Ding. I get lovely notes of corn silk, butter, hazelnuts, green beans, and faint florals in a thick...

Re: 2024 Chinese green tea thread
I've already got some beautiful pre-Ming buds from Treasure Green, which I'm having a hard time saving. My Teavivre order is on the way, and I've barely begun ordering from Seven Cups. Looks like my comparative tasting may need to wait a while. vgamedude , if you want a step up from YS, I'd recommen...
