Re: Water Water Everywhere... What’s Your Water?
Baisao I didn't read through this thread in any detail to be fair, but I did specifically say that health concerns due to poor tap water are " obviously a line to draw where other arrangements become necessary ", acknowledging this to be a problem in the US well known beyond its borders, so I think...

Re: Water Water Everywhere... What’s Your Water?
Even when one can't always get water from the centre of a clear mountain stream and wishes for the finest, I could never justify the supply chain logistics and volume of trash produced when buying bottled water or water containers in a location where single or double filtering tap water is acceptabl...

Re: What Oolong Are You Drinking
Some Floating Leaves here too this morning, Dec 21 Charcoal Dong Ding. It used to be my favourite among their roasted options I tried but I feel like it has lost a bit since first opening it. Still enjoyable, I usually just do a few extended infusions with this one. I found most teas from FL to pref...

Re: Ideal temperature for drinking; ideal amount....
I think it is good practice to avoid drinking hot liquids altogether as there are plenty of studies linking hot beverage consumption to esophageal cancer. The case of tea is a bit interesting: 1. Drinking warm/cooled tea can reduce cancer risk 2. Drinking hot tea can increase cancer risk So the temp...

Re: What Oolong Are You Drinking
@Andrew S Thank you, I will be sure to give LC and DJ a try, and also have Wuyi Origin and Old Ways on the list. The oolong rabbit holes have extra twists and side tunnels, that much is clear. From EoT, I also have the 18 House Rou Gui and Shui Xian, and the 16 Bai Yan on hand, enjoying them all.

Re: What Oolong Are You Drinking
I think that yancha is difficult to get into; the bad ones have little in common with the good ones. It's good to hear that you've found ones that you like. In the past, ordering mainly from YS (which I no longer recommend) and some Aussie sites (also mostly can't recommend), I was rarely ever draw...

Re: Yixing
ferg I think this is a matter of personal preference and risk aversion in the absence of data, and I merely felt compelled to mention it for your own consideration as someone from the more cautious end of the spectrum. My concern would be that the makers of these pots concocted a clay slurry with l...

Re: Yixing
ferg I'll be the one to say I wouldn't drink out of such unglazed slip cast pots of unknown origin because there is no way of knowing what went into the clay sludge and it is reasonable to assume that quality and food safety were likely not high on the list of motivations. But they probably perform...

Re: The Porcelain Thread
Thanks wave_code , I will keep an eye out, I expect to need a variety of shapes to suit various teas, so I will try to sample the various periods also. teatray this may be a bit unorthodox, but for those green gaoshan I really enjoy spending more time with, I start in a porcelain gaiwan for an initi...

Re: The Porcelain Thread
Any recommendations in that space? Not really... I use a range of old cups from different sources/ages and in different materials and shapes, Dehua, Jingdezhen, Chaozhou, Imari etc. Depends on what I am drinking and with whom. Yeah fair enough, I think I will just have to buy some that sing to me a...
